We are now able to get Tellurium Rod large enough to enable the Spade Connector now to accommodate both popular size Binding Post. Previously to get the correct size copper rod to machine had to be custom made at the foundry and this procedure was to cost so much that we feared the Spade would be to expensive to supply. Now that the correct size rod is readily available we can now make the new Spade connector.
The new design will still fit in both size Brass Housings to give you the choice on which Housing will suit your cable the best.

Sneak peek of the new ETI-Research Kryo XLR Connector! We are very proud of this XLR and am sure you will be also. The Male and Female connections are made from Tellurium Copper and even better the female Pins are machined!
Many of the XLR’s on the market are Brass and many which say they are Copper will if you look at the fine print may only have the Signal Pin from Copper and the rest Brass,or the Male Pins are Copper but the Female pins are made from Brass. Traditionally if the female pins are not Brass but Copper then they go through a different process which involves rolling a flat piece of Copper to make a hollow cylinder.
The Kryo XLR has all the pins machined and yes this means that the Female Connector is also machined.From our point of view this approach gives you much better contact with the Male Pin which means a much better signal transfer.
The Copper Signal Pins are Silver Plated without any Nickel base to make sure that the conductivity is not hindered. The Dielectric surrounding the Copper Signal Pins is Teflon and when looking at the photo you have the choice of using an insert depending on the thickness of the Cable you choose to use.
With twin Cable Strain Screws you can be assured that your cable will stay secure in the Kryo XLR. The Housing is made from Brass and for good reasons. Brass Housing is excellent at EM/RF noise rejection which is so important now with all the digital processors and switching power supplies in our Audio Systems. Another great feature of using Brass as a Housing is the Vibration damping as this material is very good at stopping Vibration and this is so important is HiEnd Audio Systems as with XLR connection being very secure it is easy for this Vibration to be transferred.
The length of the Housing is 50mm which is not long enough to hinder hooking up your cables in the back of your system. The ETI-Research Kryo XLR will be released next week and we hope that you who use XLR’s will consider what this can do for your Audio System
IACS Rating of Metals and Alloys will give a better indication of the quality of material used in connectors.Over the years when buying Audio Equipment and Cables we focus on the great designs and materials they are made from and ignore the basic connection material used to bring the music to our ears. Cables will have the most state of art Copper and Silver wire in various well thought out meticulous designs only to finish with a connector that may look nice but may have less conductivity than the actual wire.
Audio Equipment will have pure Copper/Silver traces in the circuit boards or high quality wire in point to point designed only to have connections to connect to again that may have less conductivity than the what the audio signal is traveling on inside.

Silver IACS rating is based upon 99.99% purity which may seem common but today it is harder and harder to verify the purity. That is why ETI-Research Pure Silver products state that the Silver comes from a foundry in England that makes our specific size rods for machining and supplies a Assay Report of the 99.99% purity. Most Silver today is mostly 99.9% at the best and most likely worse as price and where the Silver is sourced comes into play when purchasing for manufacturing. To make Silver rods of 99.999% or 99.9999% purity would be extremely costly and very few foundries will want to pursue this. We would suggest when in doubt to ask for verification of the claim.
ETI-Research uses Tellurium Copper in certain designs as it provides the hardness needed for machining and durability. In the designs that will allow then we use Harden Copper such as C11000.
When you see a product that has a very shiny Gold or Silver plating most likely it has Nickel applied to the surface before the plating occurs. All of our products apply the plating directly to the Copper as we know the effects that Nickel has on the sound.
Free Cutting Brass without a doubt is the most common material used for connections. It is cheap and very easy to machine however the conductivity of it is very poor and the IACS rating is based upon clean forged Brass. So much Brass nowadays is recycled and this has even worse conductivity due to the other material in the mix. ETI-Research will use Brass for Housings that do not touch the Copper or Silver as Brass is very good at EMI/RF rejection and also very good at vibration damping.
At Eti-Research we believe that the connectors we make should have as little impact on the sound as possible.That is why we prefer Copper and Silver not Brass or Bronze. After all if Brass which is commonly used was really that good then why isn’t the wire also made from Brass?
With the ETI-Research LINK RCA Housing manufacturers have the option of either a standard 9mm Housing opening for Cable or 10mm Housing. While the standard size is ideal for those installing a cable that is no larger than 9mm,it is difficult to add a covering over the cable and many have to resort to using Heat Shrink to keep the cable and cover in place.
The ETI-Research LINK RCA 10mm Housing is perfect for this arrangement as it is large enough to insert both the 9mm Cable and the Cosmetic covering inside the Housing.
This option can certainly help keeping your Cable nice and neat.

The Pure Silver Bullet which has been the reference used by many over the years is now back in stock and now is called the Silver LINK. The same low mass pins that offer very low capacitance and resistance has not changed, nor has the source of the Silver(more about that later).
What has changed is the improvement in the housing. As more and more switching power supplies and processors in our audio systems fill the air with EMI/RF noise it is more important nowadays to reject this noise influence from being picked up and having a detrimental influence on the sound. The Aluminum Housing is very good at rejecting this type of noise and helps keep the audio signal pure.
Why the Delay in Stock
Unlike most silver used in connectors the Silver LINK is 99.99% with assey report to back up the purity. We source the Silver from a foundry in England which makes specific size silver rods for us to machine into the Silver Bullet. Since we use pure silver the price of silver is subject to the world silver price which at time can fluctuate. The silver previously had risen by about 25% and we chose the tough decision of increasing the price of the Silver Bullet by 25% ,or waiting knowing that the price was going to drop back. It was a tough decision but we did not want to raise the price due to a short price hike.
This is also the reason we choose to get our silver from a reputable source as we know that when prices rise silver from other sources do not raise the cost. So this usually means that the silver is made less pure than claimed.
The Purity of Silver
Nowadays 99.99% pure silver does not seem that pure as we have all seen claims of five 9 and even six 9 purity and all at seemingly a good price. Check with a precious metal foundry and ask them to make Silver more pure than four 9 and you will get told that the difficulty and the huge cost it would be to do this, does not make it feasible. Most likely the best way to confirm is to askto see a Assey report to backup the claim.
